Charles Wayne Bennett, 37, whose last known address was in Blue Ash, had a blood-alcohol content of 0.10 – a little over Ohio’s legal limit of 0.08, toxicology reports showed.
He also had a level of marijuana in his system that would have made him legally impaired and there is evidence he used cocaine in the 24 hours before his arrest, Owens said.
Officers tried to stop Bennett, who was driving a stolen car, on Aug. 28 after seeing him driving erratically on Cornell Road near Sycamore High School. Police say he refused to stop and led officers on a high-speed chase.
Bennett crashed into officers at Reed Hartman Highway and Cooper Road. Police say that as officers approached the car, Bennett accelerated at officers and hit one of them. The officers shot and killed Bennett.
